History
After World War two Herbert Unger founded the company Unger electric plant manufacturing. This small family business was the beginning of an over 60 years existing business activity and is till today a guarantee for quality and commitment. During the recovery of the economy after the war the company had grown constantly through their workers and the effort of the company founder.
In 1948 a new partner, Mr. Richard Sühnel, joined the company. The firm was renamed in “Sühnel & Unger”. Mr. Richard Sühnel was the head of the administration. After the division of administration and the technical management, the progress started rapidly. Next to the conventional building wiring for industry and households the division ´machine engineering´ has been implemented in the company, which became soon an own independent department.
1961 Mr. Richard Sühnel died and his brother, Werner Unger took over the administration of the company.
1972 there was a heavy setback for the economy of the former GDR, the nationalization of all the large firms. That meant to take action right away to escape this takeover. The machine engineering was handed over to the Wismut and the automobile electronics were closed down. The company was downsized to 10 workers, one state-operated trainee and one handicapped person.
1974 the son of the founder, Mr. Horst Unger, took over the company. The partners have been disbursed and the firm was renamed in ´Unger- Elektroanlagenbau´. The new owner brought the company through the entire time of the GDR.
As from 1990 Mr. Horst Unger could build on to the earlier success with its entrepreneurial ability.
1991 the limited company ´Unger Elektro-Anlagenbau GmbH´ was founded under the conditions of the constant extension and modernization.
Unfortunately in 1992 Mr. Horst Unger died and his wife Ursula and her two sons Heiko and Ronny took over the business.
1998 a further milestone arose in the history of the company – the factory ´UNGER Kabel - Konfektionstechnik GmbH´ was established. Within the same year a new production site was built and as from April 1999 on the production with the newest technologies could start.

In 2001 the plant 1 got too small because of the rapid growth. That was the reason why plant 2 was bought, an industrial property with over 300 years of history. Till 2006 the building was refurbished and reconstructed. Since the entry of the first production area – TP2 ABS sensor wiring – in 2002 in plant 2, the production was constantly enlarged until 13.000 sq m production and administration area were totally occupied in 2008.
The extension of plant 2 was not possible anymore, that is why they decided to new build a plant in the industrial area of Cranzahl in 2008. Already in September 2008 some of the production areas from plant 1 and 2 could be moved to the new production hall at plant 3 with 4 600 sq m.
Since that day the UNGER Kabel - Konfektionstechnik GmbH is producing towards their core competences, the cable packaging and the necessary machine engineering and switchgear, at 3 plants in the area of Saxony in the ore mountains.
The need of a further adequate growth, the new challenges of the globalised market and the trust and advanced business portfolio of our customers cause us to take a new step and implement our own Research & Development department in 2011.
We still strive for the trustworthiness of our customers, the growth of the company on basis of a high innovation power and the social engagement in accordance with the tradition of the company and previous generations.
